Kearney, Neb. - Nebraska-Kearney sophomore
Amy Long has made the USTFCCA (U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association) Cross Country All-Academic team for the first time.
To qualify for All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have completed at least 12 semester/quarter hours through the semester of competition at the institution to be eligible.
The student-athlete also must have at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA and have placed in the top 30 % of the total number of athletes eligible to compete at the respective regional championships or have placed in the top 50% of the field at the NCAA Division II Championships.
In 2009, a total of 286 student-athletes representing 106 schools, made this Academic team.
This past fall, Long was the Lopers top finisher in every meet, finishing 35th at the ultra competitive Central Region meet. She also earned 3rd-team All-RMAC honors. In the classroom, Long has a 3.84 GPA as an Athletic Training major.
