Kastler to Represent Men's Golf at NCAA Super Regionals

Devon Kastler
Kearney, Neb. - Nebraska-Kearney senior men's golf Devon Kastler has been selected to play in the NCAA Central/West Regional May 3-5 in Palm Desert, Calif.

A total of 80 teams and 32 individuals were selected today for NCAA Regional play. The top five teams and top two golfers not with a team from each regional will advance to the NCAA Championships May 18-21 in Noblesville, Ind.

The Central/West Regional will be played at The Classic Club with Cal State San Bernardino serving as host.

UNK was hoping to go to California as a team but the Lopers didn't make the cut for a second straight spring. The team was ranked as high as fourth in the region but Concordia-St. Paul, Colorado Christian and Colorado State-Pueblo rallied past the Lopers to earn the last three at-large spots.

A total of 10 teams from the Central region are selected, eight at-large as well as the RMAC and NSIC (Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) champions.

Kastler (Ord), who placed 48th at the 2009 Nebraska State Amateur Championships, led the team in stroke average this season with a 76.25. His best tournament finish came back in September when he shot a three under par 141 to win the Augustana Fall Invitational.
