Kearney, Neb. - Nebraska-Kearney head women's basketball coach
Kevin Chaney announced today that Sara Wilson is transferring from Wyoming and will suit up for the Lopers this upcoming season.
The 5-9 guard will have three years of eligibility remaining and puts UNK's 2010-11 roster at 15 players.
Wilson (Grant) will be the second Perkins County H.S. graduate on the Lopers, joining junior guard
Debi Johnson. The pair helped the Lady Plainsmen go 46-1 between 2006-08, finishing as Class C-2 runners up in 2007 and winning the 2008 state title.
This past season. Wilson played in 14 games for a Wyoming Cowgirls team that went 21-11 (9-7 Mountain West Conference) and qualified for the WNIT.
Shooting 44 percent from the floor, she tallied a season-high 17 points, in just 12 minutes, in a win over Air Force. In the next game at UNLV, Wilson scored 11 points and pulled down five rebounds in 16 minutes off the bench.
At Perkins County, Wilson averaged 16.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.4 steals and 2.4 assists for her career. Making 122 three pointers over four seasons, she was chosen 2nd-team All-Nebraska as a senior and was a three-time Class C-2 all-state selection. She also is among the all-time leading scorers (217) in the history of the Nebraska Girls State Tournament.
UNK had only one senior on last year's team that reached the RMAC Tournament.
