Kearney, Neb. - The Nebraska-Kearney men's golf team had three individuals place in the top 35 of the 2010 Nebraska State Amateur Championships.
The four-day tournament was held at Omaha's Happy Hollow July 26-29. This was the 102nd edition of the tournament and players first had to qualify at regional events.
Kearney native
Alex Farrell led the Lopers with ninth place, shooting an 11 over par 295 (76-74-71-74). In 2009, Farrell placed 31st in this tournament.
Andy Sajevic, a sophomore at North Carolina-Charlotte, was the winner with a two under par 282. His father, John, won the tournament in 1989. John was a three-time district champion for Kearney State.
Next, Wood River junior Kris Koezler tied for 26th (304/72-80-72-70) and North Platte sophomore
Jordan Arensdorf tied for 35th (307/80-75-77-75). Last summer, Koezler tied for 50th in this tournament.
Finally, former Lopers
Wes Bernt (T-19th/302) and Tony Barnowski (T-41st/309) each made the cut and came in the top 45.
