Kearney, Neb. -The Nebraska-Kearney Athletic Department announced today that it will be hosting “Pack the House” in conjunction with the basketball double header next Wednesday night, January 30th, vs. Emporia State.
In conjunction with “Pack the House”, the Athletic Department will be handing out UNK spirit wristbands to the first 250 fans that attend the games.
The women's game tips at 5:30 p.m. with the men at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday's game will be the 35
th meeting overall between the women's programs. Although Emporia State leads this series with a 24-10 record against our Lady Lopers, no one will forget what happened the last time they visited the Health and Sports Center. In 2000, Emporia State walked into the stadium with a Top 5 rating and hopes of winning a National Championship. Little did they know our Lady Lopers had other plans as they upset Emporia State that night 68-65. The Lopers will be looking to keep that home winning streak alive.
The men have fared much better against Emporia State over the years as they have an overall record of 18-14. With only one game against Emporia State this year, the Lopers will try to take advantage of their home court advantage and improve their overall record against the Hornets.
As both Loper programs hit the midway point of the conference season, they look to pick up a couple of big wins that could potentially lead them to making the postseason tournament.
