Ron Laux was a two-sport star for the Lopers in the 1960’s. He was a four-year starter in football and a four-year letterman in track. He has compiled an outstanding record of coaching high school football. A defensive back, Laux was named to the NAIA District 11 team as a junior and senior, and to the All-NCC team as a senior. In 1967, Laux was a stalwart of Coach Al Zikmund’s team and posted a perfect 9-0 record. In track, Laux was a long jumper. He qualified for the National NAIA Meet as a junior. Recognized for his leadership qualities, Laux was named co-captain of both sports his senior year. He has coached in three Nebraska Shrine Bowls and has taken his teams to seven state playoffs.
