Ted Mills was a three-year starter at tackle and defensive end who twice was an all-conference selection from 1955 to 1957. Those teams, coached by Al Zikmund, had a combined record of 25-3 He was a Williamson Rating System All-American honorable mention pick in 1957. He was team captain and presidents of the letterman’s club. Mills coached at Sutherland, Red Cloud, Blue Hill, Hebron, and Holdrege before becoming a principal and activities director. In 23 years as a football coach, he had a 118-82-10 football record. In seven years at Hebron, his teams were ranked in the Top Ten in the state six times. Two of those years, 1969 and 1970, his teams were No. 1 in Class C. He also coached track for 25 years and wrestling for nine years.
