WNMU Remains Unbeaten at Home, Beats Men's Basketball by Eight

Kearney, Neb. - The Western New Mexico men's basketball team had four score in double digits, and held Nebraska-Kearney to 38 percent shooting, in a 74-66 victory Thursday night in Silver City, N.M.

Western (5-8, 4-2 RMAC) is now 4-0 at home this season and beats the Lopers (8-7, 3-4 RMAC) for a third straight year.

Moment of the Game

In a contest with six ties and 10 lead changes, UNK jumped out to a 13-5 lead but Western came back to lead 36-32 at the break.

The Mustangs advantage just grew in the 2nd half, reaching nine points by the 18 minute mark and 21 points with five minutes to go. A late Loper push cut the deficit under double digits with a minute to go.

UNK committed 20 turnovers, its second highest figure of the season, and those miscues led to 25 Mustang points. Western also doubled up UNK, 28-14, in points in the paint.

Shooting just 35 percent from the field, Western also forced the Lopers to launch a season-high 30 three pointers. Only 10 of those shots found the bottom of the net.
