Kearney, Neb. - The Nebraska-Kearney men's golf team fired a 54-hole score of 918 to finish in 12th place at the RMAC Fall Invite # 3 Tuesday in Silver City, N.M.
The two-day, 15-team tournament was played at the par 71 Silver City G.C. Besides RMAC schools in attendance, others in the field included "B" teams from Arizona, Grand Canyon (Ariz.) and New Mexico State, NAIA Southwestern College (Ariz.) and South Mountain C.C. (Ariz.).
UNK sat in eighth after Monday's two rounds (597/306-291). The Lopers shot a 321 on Tuesday, the second highest round of the day and the second highest round by the team this fall.
Colorado-Colorado Springs (868) won with Fort Lewis second (878) and the host Western New Mexico Mustangs third (879). New Mexico State's Ross Prachar was the medalist thanks to a one under par 212 (72-69-71).
The top three Lopers were separated by just two strokes. Fremont junior
Garrett Goldsberry tied for 32nd (225/75-68-82), Kearney senior
Alex Farrell tied for 34th (226/75-68-83) and North Platte sophomore Justin Arensdorf tied for 38th (227/77-74-76).
Also for UNK, Washington junior
C.A. Everson placed 67th (243/79-84-80) and Lincoln junior
Justin Stonacek was 69th (246/82-81-83).
Arensdorf had a team-high 34 pars with Everson having one of the 12 eagles in the tournament
The Lopers will tee it up again in the spring of 2011.
