Mountain Lions Ends Lopers Shot at RMAC Tournament

Kearney, Neb. – University of Nebraska Kearney soccer team was defeated by University of Colorado-Colorado Springs, 4-2, Friday night, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Nebraska Kearney falls to 6-8-3 and 3-7-3 in conference play, while Colorado-Colorado Springs improves to 8-8-1 and 5-7-1 in conference play. Nebraska Kearney defeated UCCS 6-2 on October 8th, in Kearney.

With tonight loss, UNK has been eliminated from RMAC tournament. UNK had 12 points coming into tonight's match and UCCS (had 13 points), picks up three points with the win to now have 16 points.

UCCS scored three goals in the first half by Sara Palizzi at the 18th minute, Kristin Preble at the 26th minute, and Candice Buckles in the 34th minute.

The Mountain Lions would score there only goal of the second half in the 49th minute by Preble off of a corner kick by Palizzi.

UNK scored its first goal of the second half at the 67th minute, when freshman Raliegh Mercer (Centennial, CO) would cross the ball to another freshman Becka Talcott (Denver, CO), who would kick the ball over the goalie's head and find the back of the net.

The Lopers would tack on a late goal by Talcott in the 80th minute to make the Mountain Lions' led 4-2.

Colorado-Colorado Springs would take one more shot than Nebraska Kearney (22-21), but Nebraska Kearney would take five more corner kick than Colorado-Colorado Springs (10-5), including (9-4) edge in the second 45 minutes.

The Lopers were lead in shots by Talcott with six, followed by Mercer with four, and junior Morgan Abert (Waupaca, WI) would add three shots.

UNK finishes the regular season Sunday afternoon at Adams State.
