Box Score Kearney, Neb. - The Colorado-Colorado Springs Mountain Lions scored two second half goals to beat Nebraska-Kearney,
2-1, Friday night in Colorado.
In a game key to seeding for the RMAC Tournament, UCCS improves to 7-3 (3-3 RMAC) while the Lopers drop to 3-7-1 (1-5-1 RMAC).
Kearney grabbed a rare first half lead as sophomore
Raliegh Mercer scored on a direct kick just a little over six minutes into the game. Her sixth goal of the season, the shot came from about 30 yards out.
For the year, UNK has now scored a total of 12 goals.
Out shot 20-11 on the night, the Lopers saw UCCS tie the game at 68:39 when Lindsey Birdseye and Hannah Levett executed a give and go with Birdseye scoring a left footed shot from 20 yards out.
This marked Birdseye's second goal of the fall.
About 15 minutes later, UCCS senior captain Meghan Royer made a sharp angle shot from 20 yards out to tally the winning goal. Taking a long pass from teammate Agnes Arnadottir, this was Royer's first goal of 2011.
UCCS took all nine corners in the game with Kearney having six shots before the break and five after. Finally, junior keeper
Marissa Niday (Fremont) made eight saves and Mercer led the team with three shots.
