A freshman from East Butler High, Bongers provisionally qualified in the 800 and ran the third leg for the 4 x 400 relay team that also made the NCAA list.

On Friday in Lincoln, Bongers placed 6th out of 27 in the 800 (2:15.27), the third best time in school history.

The relay team ran a 3:54.27, good for fifth place and the fifth best time in school history. Other members of that squad are juniors Jena Isaacson & Erica Pirog and sophomore Shelby Hamilton.
