UNK Dance (Sapphires)

University of Nebraska - Kearney Athletics

The Sapphires Dance Team elevate the game day experience through exciting performances on the sideline and during halftimes of UNK athletic events. While they aim to promote school spirit, unify students, alumni, and fans, they also serve as ambassadors for the University, on campus and in the community.

This group of women work incredibly hard year around, to bring entertaining routines, energy, and enthusiasm to Loper Game days!! Outside of Loper Athletics, the Sapphires team members make many community appearances.

The Sapphires Dance Team, now housed under UNK athletics, has a longstanding history, founded in the 1970s. The team has held several different names over the years, including the ‘Wagoneers Dance Team’, the ‘UNK Dance Team’ and since the early 2000s, the Sapphires.

For all who have been a part of this program, we are thankful for you and are proud to continue its legacy.
