UNK Athletics Hall of Fame Criteria & Nomination Form

The UNK Athletics Hall of Fame aims to recognize, honor, and celebrate individuals and teams who have distinguished themselves and the university through significant contributions to athletics. 

Any person may nominate an individual for consideration by the UNK Athletics Hall of Fame Selection Committee. The following are basic guidelines for considering a nominee:
  • Individuals and teams have made outstanding contributions to Loper athletics and achieved high levels of success, distinction and/or recognition.
  • Individuals should have an honorable and respectable reputation/ public image since leaving Kearney State College or the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
  • Candidates are not eligible for induction until at least ten years after separation from the institution.
  • Stronger consideration will be given to those student-athletes who participated for four or five seasons and/or earned a Bachelor’s Degree.

Criteria

The consideration of nominees for induction will have specific minimum criteria used to determine the eligibility and viability of all nominations. The general minimum standards for considering nominations are as follows:

All nominations
  1. High levels of achievement during athletics participation at KSC/UNK or other evidence of honor, distinction, or service to the university and its athletics program.
  2. A person of sound character, judgement, and distinction in such ways that positively represent KSC/UNK.
  3. No record of criminality or other illegal behaviors or activities that would reflect poorly on KSC/UNK. 

Student-Athletes
  1. Minimum of ten (10) years’ separation from UNK.
  2. Selection to 1st Team All-American or better.
  3. Notable success after leaving UNK, in athletics or other endeavors.

Coaches / Administrators
  1. A minimum of ten years’ separation from UNK coaching or administrative role is required.
  2. At least ten (10) years of recognized leadership as a coach, administrator, or both.
  3. Honored as Coach of the Year in the RMAC, MIAA, or NCAA.

Teams
  1. Minimum of ten (10) years’ separation from UNK.
  2. RMAC or MIAA Championship or better.

Meritorious Service
  1. Demonstrated service, contribution, and support of KSC/UNK Athletics.
  2. Minimum of ten years of recognized service and/or support.
  3. No separation time from service or support role required.
