At the Fort Hays State/Bob Smith Open, Bamford went 4-1 and placed third at 133 lbs.

A true freshman, he beat Adams State's Jerry Huff, 12-6, in the third place match. Huff is a senior, a 2013 All-American and currently ranked No. 1 in Division II at 125 lbs.
