Broke his own school record in the 1,500 meter run Friday afternoon at the Dr. Keeler Invite in Illinois. 

Wellnitz ran in the seventh and fastest heat and turned in a 3:47.64 despite having to hurdle a fellow competitor with 400 meters remaining. The time also allowed him to finish fourth out of 83 and move up on the national list.
