At the 2018 NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field Championships (Charlotte, NC), Stapleman cleared the opening height of 16-0 on his third attempt. He then went 16-4 on his second try before bowing out at 16-8. He earned 10th Place, Second Team All-American Honors.

Stapleman won the pole vault title  at the MIAA Championships. He is the first Loper outdoor pole vault camp since Dakota Cochrane in 2009 (Rocky Mountain Athletic Conf.). 

To place first in a tough field, Stapleman cleared a career-best 16-11. That places him eighth nationally and assures his ticket to the NCAA Championships Memorial Day Weekend in Charlotte.
