In the Lopers season opening meet, Fruit finished 3rd at the Woody Greeno/Nebraska Cross Country Invitational in Lincoln.

Running the 8k course in 25:07.8, Fruit trailed only runners from Air Force and Nebraska while finishing ahead of 292 other runners.

As a team, UNK won the College Division (21 teams) and placed 4th overall.
