Women's Basketball Drops Season Opener

Kearney, Neb. - The Concordia-St. Paul women's basketball used a big second half run to get past a short handed Nebraska-Kearney squad, 86-63, Friday night at the Wildwood Lodge Tip-Off Classic in Minnesota.

It was the season opener for both teams. The victory was the 200th for Golden Bears coach Paul Fessler.

Moment of the Game
Despite having just seven players available, UNK was within striking distance for the first 28 minutes. The Golden Bears, who won 20 games a year ago, led 40-36 at the break and by a 57-48 score at the 12:30 mark of the 2nd half.

However, a 21-11 CSP run over the next 10 minutes made it a 19-point cushion for the tournament host. On the night, UNK had one player foul out and three others pick up four fouls.

While UNK out rebounded the Bears 47-45, CSP scored 33 points off of 26 Loper turnovers.
