Big Second Half Propels Diggers over Men's Basketball

Kearney, Neb. - Sophomore post Dale Mischwaner scored 24 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead the Colorado School of Mines men's basketball team to a 76-61 win over Nebraska-Kearney Saturday night in Golden, Colo.

Mines improves to 8-9 (5-4 RMAC) while the Lopers slip to 9-8 (4-5 RMAC). In the East Division standings, UNK is currently tied with UCCS for 4th place.

Moment of the Game
The 1st half featured six ties and 11 lead changes with UNK managing to take a 29-28 lead into the locker room thanks to a layup from senior center Josiah Parker with 32 seconds to go.

UNK shot 43.5 percent (10 of 23) in the 1st half with Mines coming in at just 37.9 percent (11 of 29), including an 0 of 7 effort from beyond the arc.

Things changed quickly in the 2nd half as Mines started on a 17-8 run to open up an eight point lead, 45-37, by the 14 minute mark.  During this stretch, Mischwaner scored eight points, four coming on two dunks, with guard Brett Green adding another seven.

UNK didn't get closer then six points the rest of the night as sophomore wing Max Froehlich was limited to just 21 minutes due to foul trouble and Mines sunk 64.5 percent of its 2nd half shots (20 of 31).

Besides out shooting the Lopers, Mines also won the battle on the glass (41-28).
