Kearney, Neb. - Shaw Buckner made two free throws with five seconds left, capping an 8-0 run, to lift the Chadron State men's basketball team over Nebraska-Kearney,
65-64, Tuesday night in Chadron.
The Eagles are now 6-11 (4-6 RMAC) with the Lopers falling to .500 on the year (9-9, 4-6 RMAC). Both teams are tied for 5th in the East Division.
Moment of the Game
UNK led 64-57 with 1:18 left but went 0-4 at the line and had a turnover that led to a three point play for the Eagles.
Coming into the game the 5th best free throw shooting team in the league (70.5 pct.), the Lopers finished the night 8 of 19 at the line, including 3 of 11 effort over the final 2:15.
Mean while, Chadron went 5 of 6 at the stripe in the final minute to end the game 14 of 17.
UNK led most of the night, including a 12-point lead at the 8:42 mark of the 1st half, but Chadron hung around and would eventually lead by eight, 49-41, seven minutes into the 2nd half.

Max Froehlich gave the Lopers the lead back, 55-54, by the six minute mark and the Lopers led until Buckner's free throws.
Besides the missed freebies, UNK saw Chadron score 17 2nd chance points thanks to 14 offensive rebounds.
