Kearney, Neb. – The Colorado School of Mines men's basketball team had four starters score in double figures to beat Nebraska-Kearney,
96-68, Friday night in Golden, Colo.
The Orediggers, who made the NCAA Tournament last season, remain unbeaten (8-0, 4-0 RMAC) and defeat the Lopers (5-4, 3-2 RMAC) for the fourth time in the last six games.
Leading almost the entire way, Mines shot 50.8 percent (31 of 61) from the field while out rebounding the Lopers by nine, 42-33. The 'Diggers also committed just 10 turnovers and went 29 of 39 at the line.
Coming into the weekend, Mines was leading the league in field goal percentage (50.2) and scoring defense (64.6 ppg).
Getting out to a 14-8 lead seven minutes into the game, Mines led by 15 at the break, 37-22, and held at least a 13 point cushion in the second half.
Junior forward Gordon Galloway scored a game-high 23 points on 7 of 11 shooting with fellow post Dale Mischwaner sinking 6 of 9 shots to tally 16 points. The pair also combined to pull down 14 rebounds and block three shots.
In the back court, Sean Armstrong and Brett Green combined for 27 points, seven assists and four rebounds.
