Springs Used Balanced Attack to Nip Men's Basketball

Chris Deans has scored 38 points over the last 2 games
Kearney, Neb. - The Colorado-Colorado Springs men's basketball team had five players score in double figures to hold off Nebraska-Kearney, 82-74, Friday night in Colorado.

With the win, the Mountain Lions (8-14, 6-8 RMAC) move into a 4th place tie with Chadron State. The Lopers (11-12, 6-9 RMAC) see a two-game win streak end and slip to 6th in the East Division.

UCCS, now playing games in its new Gallogly Center, has won four of its last seven games with UNK.

Moment of the Game
Leading most of the 2nd half, UCCS found itself up 62-52 with 8:51 to play. An 11-2 run got the Lopers back into it but Springs responded, much like they did in a 68-63 win over UNK on Jan. 30th.

Four straight points put the lead back to five and then, later, a layup from senior post Cole Smith made it 73-68 at the 1:57 mark. This key bucket came after a Loper turnover, one of 14 on the night.

The Lions went 9 of 10 at the line after that to seal its first-ever season sweep of the Lopers.

UCCS shot 51.9 percent for the game and won the battle on the glass by five, 33-28. They also out scored UNK's bench 37-21 and had seven different players score seven points or more.
