Women’s Basketball Keeps Post Season Hopes Alive by Beating Regis

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney women's basketball team had four players score at least 15 points to beat Regis, 77-64, Friday night in Denver, Colorado.

Nebraska-Kearney improves to 9-14 (8-8 RMAC) while Regis falls to 9-15 (2-14 RMAC). The Lopers defeated Regis 83-61 thirteen days ago in Kearney.

Moment of the Game
Regis jumped out to 2-0 lead but the Lopers scored the next seven points to lead by five with 14:24 left in the 1st half. UNK was then leading 25-18 with five minutes left  went it went on an 11-4 run to close out the half.

Sophomore wing Vanessa Leeper, coming off the bench to replace an injured Lea Ann Jamison, scored 10 of her 16 points in the first 20 minutes.

UNK led by double digits the entire 2nd half, thanks to 53.6% (15-28) shooting from the floor while the Rangers shot 42.1% (16-38) shooting from the field.

The Lopers out rebounded the Rangers, 44-39, for the game and outscored the Rangers 27-16 in points off turnovers.
