Wayne State Sweeps Loper Softball

Kearney, Neb. – The Wayne State softball team hit four home runs to beat the Nebraska-Kearney,  5-0 and 14-2, in a doubleheader played at Dryden Park.

Wayne State improves to 14-2 while the Lopers fall to 5-7 on the season. These were UNK's first home games of the 2010 season.

In game one, UNK could only manage three hits off of Wayne State pitcher Katie Goetzinger, who had an earned run average of 0.66 coming into today's game. Two of the three hits where off of the bat of sophomore 2b Ali Seberger (Lexington) while the other hit came from junior DP Jessie Thomas (Yutan).

Mean while, the Wildcats got home runs from Hannah Engelkamp, Blaire Kuhl, and Sam Earleywine; entering today, the Wildcats had hit three home runs in 12 games.

In game two, Wayne scored 14 runs off 17 hits, and got another home run from Kuhl. UNK would score two runs in the bottom of the fifth, on a double to left field from Sara Dunn (Papillion), scoring Seberger and Thomas.
