Kearney, Neb. - The Nebraska-Kearney baseball team had 15 hits and got another strong effort from senior pitcher
Jared Loschen to beat Colorado Mines,
13-2, Friday night at Memorial Field.
UNK improves to 24-15 (13-11 RMAC) while the Orediggers fall to 7-23 (3-21 RMAC).
The game was decided over the first two innings when the Lopers tallied eight runs thanks to seven hits, five walks and three 'Digger errors.
Mines had trouble in the field all night, committing six errors that directly led to six Kearney runs.
In the field for UNK, Loschen (8-3) blanked the 'Diggers for the first four innings. He finished with four K's over six full innings. Also, junior
Austin Parker (Brighton, Colo.) earned his third save by throwing three scoreless innings.
At the plate, all nine Loper starters had at least one hit with junior RF
Patrick Oliver (Broomfield, Colo.) going 3 for 6 with three runs scored while freshman C
Chandler Klute (Kearney) was 2 for 4 with two RBI's.
Finally, junior OF
Ben Townsend went 2 for 5 and had his first career extra base hit -- a double -- at Memorial Field.
The two teams finish the series tomorrow with a double header starting at noon.
