Volleyball Finishes Home Stand with Win over Adams

Kearney, Neb. – The 12th ranked University of Nebraska Kearney volleyball team closes out three game home stand with a sweep against Adams State 3-0 (-11, -13, -18), Saturday night at the Health & Sports Center.

Nebraska Kearney would score the first three point of set one, via an ace, an attack error by Dominique Davis, and kill from sophomore outside Ariel Krolikowski (Grand Island, NE/ Grand Island). Adams State would score four of the next five points to tie it at four all.

UNK would go on to score nine of the next twelve points to take 13-7 lead over ASC. Adams State would get no closer than seven points in set one. The Lopers would go on to win set one 25-11. Freshman middle Ellie Pesavento (Omaha, NE/Marian) led the Lopers in kills after set one with three.

The Lopers would score the first eight points of set two, thanks to four attacks errors by the Grizzles, getting two service aces form Krolikowski, and got kills form Pesavento and freshman middle/outside Katie Sokowlowski (Kearney, NE/Kearney Catholic). Lopers would take set two by the score of 25-13.

Lopers were led in kills for the set by Sokowlowski with three, Pesavento, Krolikowski and seniors Jeri Walkowiak (Grand Island, NE/ Grand Island) & Kelsey Werner (Grand Island, NE/Grand Island), all had two kills.

Just like sets one and two, UNK would take the early lead in set three. Adams would tie the set on two different times but never took the lead. UNK would go on to take the set with a 25-18 win. Walkowiak had a set high five kills to lead the team.

Nebraska Kearney would hit .306 as a team, while Adams State hit .000 as a team. Pesavento would have a match high nine kills, followed by Walkowiak with eight. Nebraska Kearney out blocked Adams State 7-2.

Nebraska Kearney goes on the road to take on in state and seventh ranked Wayne State Tuesday night.
