Volleyball Makes Quick Work of Mesa

Kearney, Neb. - The 6th-ranked Nebraska-Kearney volleyball team hit nearly .500 in a sweep of Colorado Mesa (-13, -19, -7) Friday night at the Health & Sports Center.

The Lopers improve to 20-1 (10-1 RMAC) while the Mavericks, formerly known as Mesa State, drop to 7-14 (2-10 RMAC).

Last fall, CMU posted a 3-2 victory in Kearney. However, the Mavs graduated several talented players and are now battling injuries.

The league leaders in attack percentage at around .305, UNK recorded 48 kills tonight while committing only six errors in 89 swings, good for a season-high .472 percentage. This marks the fifth time this fall UNK has hit .400 or better.

Showing its dominance, Kearney recorded 19 kills in the first set alone; Mesa had 24 for the match. The Lopers also had 8.0 team blocks, 49 digs and a service ace.

In the middle, sophomore Haley Lake (Lincoln SE) had a team-best 11 kills, five digs and two blocks with junior outside Ariel Krolikowski (Grand Island) at 10 kills and a team-high 13 digs.

Running the show, junior setter Jenna Rouzee (GI Northwest) recorded 36 assists, five kills, two digs and four blocks (three solo).

Kelly Regimbal (eight) and Antoninette McCormick (seven) combined for 15 kills to pace Mesa.

Fort Lewis comes to town tomorrow night at 5:00 p.m.
