Quinston Reggins
Box Score Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney men's basketball scored 25 points off turnovers and finished on a 16-7 run to slip past Doane College, 69-64, Tuesday night at the Health & Sports Center.

The Tigers fall to 4-2 on the season while UNK evens its mark at 1-1.

Doane held a couple of one point leads early on but the Lopers soon took charge, opening up a 21-9 cushion by the 11:25 mark of the first half.

To get out to its biggest lead of the night, UNK used a 15-2 run that featured three made three pointers and seven points by senior guard Quinston Reggins (Houston, Texas).

The Tigers, however, hung around, trailing by a 31-25 score at the break and not allowing UNK to lead by more than seven points early in the second half.

After trailing for over 30 minutes, Doane used a 14-6 run to grab the lead back. A layup by Nick Reed capped the come back and made it 54-53 with 6:12 to play.

The Tigers then scored three more points to lead by four with under five to go. That's when the Lopers made a move, out scoring Doane by nine points the rest of the way.

A layup by sophomore post Mike Dentlinger (Omaha) gave UNK the lead for good, 60-58, with 3:50 left and then Reggins added a jumper to push the lead to four about two minutes later.

Senior wing Max Froehlich (Pierce) came off the bench to make five free throws in the final 20 seconds to keep the Tigers at bay.

Thanks to 12 steals, including three by Reggins, UNK forced 20 Doane turnovers. The Lopers, meanwhile, had just five in the first half and 13 in the game.

While Doane won the battle on the glass, 33-30, and made five more three throws, 15-10, UNK took nine more field goals and shot 54 percent (13 of 24) in the second half.

Reggins finished with a team-high 16 points thanks to 6 of 15 shooting. Besides his steal total, he also handed out four assists and had two rebounds.

In the post, Dentlinger sunk 7 of 11 field goals to tally 15 points. Playing a team-high 37 minutes, four of his six rebounds came on the offensive end. Finally, five other Lopers scored between five and nine points.

For Doane, Reed led the way with a game-high 17 points, six rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal.
