Ben Klein
Box Score Kearney, Neb. - The Nebraska-Kearney men's basketball team started the second half on a 9-0 run and got big efforts from posts Mike Dentlinger and Ethan Brozek to beat Regis, 72-60, Sunday afternoon at the Health & Sports Center.

UNK (4-3, 2-2 RMAC) is now 31-7 all-time vs. the Rangers (3-5, 0-4 RMAC).

In a game that featured 53 free throws, the Lopers led for the last 31 minutes but was ahead only 32-27 at the break.

With a decided height advantage, UNK went inside all day long and Brozek, a 6-6 true freshman from Norfolk Catholic, started the second half with back-to-back buckets.

Dentlinger (Millard North) added another jumper inside and then senior wing Max Froehlich (Pierce) converted a three point play and it was suddenly 41-27 Lopers three minutes into the second half.

Making 57% (12 of 21) of its second half field goals, UNK led by as many as 20 points before Regis went on a mini-run, cutting the deficit to 12 by the 5:26 mark. Never letting its lead getting under double digits, the Lopers made 16 of 22 second half free throws to keep Regis at bay.

Having his best game as a Loper, Brozek finished with a team-high 20 points on 6 of 12 shooting. He also made 8 of 11 free throws and pulled down three boards in 27 minutes. Dentlinger (16 points & nine rebounds) was a board short of a double double as he went 6 of 12 from the field.

Seven others scored at least two points, including senior Ben Klein (six) and junior Drew Sankey (four). They helped the Loper bench tally 20 points on the day.  Finally, UNK tallied 20 points of 15 Regis turnovers.

Junior Demitrius Owens had a double double in the second half to finish with 21 points and 14 rebounds for the Rangers.

UNK hosts 7th-ranked Colorado School of Mines and Colorado Christian next weekend.
