Box Score Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney women's soccer team fired 26 shots in a 2-0 win over Minnesota-Crookston Sunday afternoon in Sioux Falls, S.D.

The Lopers improve to 2-2 while the Golden Eagles, of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC), drop to 0-4.

UNK had eight shots in the first half and another 18 after the break. Sixteen were considered shots on goal, a new school-mark. Last year in a home scoreless tie with Colorado Christian, the Lopers took a school-record 29 shots.

For the first time in 2011, Kearney scored first in a game as senior Morgan Abert (Waupaca, Wisc.) recorded a goal on a direct kick at the 6:05 mark. This marks her fourth career goal, three coming via direct kick.

UNK doubled its lead about eight minutes into the second half when freshman Ashtin Pawloski (Hastings) scored a rebound goal at 52:50. Crookston keeper Amanda Stapleton managed to save Pawloski's first two shots but the third got by her.

Senior Melanie Patrick, another Hastings High grad, and sophomore Becka Talcott (Denver) assisted on the goal.

UMC had just five shots on the day, four coming in the first half. Junior keeper Marissa Niday (Fremont) made two saves to record her second career shut out.

The Lopers stay on the road next week as they are at Colorado Mesa Friday and nationally-ranked Fort Lewis on Sunday.
