Kearney, Neb. - Former Nebraska-Kearney quarterback
Jake Spitzlberger led the Schwabisch Hall Unicorns to a win in the 34th Annual German Bowl the weekend in Berlin.
Spitzlberger threw for 480 yards and four scores, and ran for two more TD's, to help his team post a 56-53 victory over the
Kiel Baltic Hurricanes in front 11,000 fans.
The 109 combined points set a new German Bowl record. The Unicorns scored 18 points in the final 7:19 to pull out the win.
Named German Bowl MVP, Spitzlberger led Schwabisch Hall to a 14-2 (11-2 conference) record this season, which began in May.
Averaging just over 300 passing yards per game, he tossed 52 TD's while running for 35 more and amassing 1,114 yards on the ground. Of note, Spitz missed one contest due to injury.
