Box Score Kearney, Neb. – Sophomore forward Anika Whiting scored a game-high 20 points and the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears sunk 23 free throws to defeat Nebraska-Kearney, 71-51, Saturday evening in Minnesota.
The Bears (2-2) were the hosts of the Radisson Roseville Thanksgiving Classic.
Standing 6-2, Whiting earned all-tournament honors after making 8 of 11 shots and all four free throws she attempted against the Lopers (2-4). Whiting also had seven defensive rebounds, two steals and an assist.
As a team, Concordia went 23 of 27 at the line; the Lopers made just 13 of its 22 freebies. UNK also struggled from field, going 19 of 60, and went 0 of 10 from the three point line.
The Golden Bears took control early on, keeping UNK scoreless for over four minutes. The 11-0 run made it 23-9 and featured six points by Whiting.
Six-foot junior guard Rachel Hansen also was chosen all-tournament after scoring 12 and handing out nine assists.
