Box Score Kearney, Neb. – The 4th-ranked Nebraska-Kearney volleyball team hit .274 to sweep NW Missouri State (-17, -16, -15) Saturday afternoon at the Health & Sports Center.
UNK (28-2, 14-1) is right behind Central Missouri for first place in the MIAA. The Jennies (15-1) earned a tough 3-1 win at Truman State Saturday night.
Washburn is also 14-1 in league play; the Lopers host UCM next Friday and then visits the Lady Blues the following day.
To record a 10th straight sweep, the Lopers saw five different players have between five and 10 kills. Never trailing against the Bearcats (14-14, 8-7), UNK also dug up 62 balls. Kearney came into the week among the Division II leaders in digs with just over 20 per set.
On “Senior Day”, junior middle
Katie Sokolowski (Kearney Catholic) had a team-high 10 kills and hit .400 while also blocking three balls at the net.
Next, senior outside
Ariel Krolikowski (Grand Island) supplied eight kills, 10 digs and a block with senior setter
Jenna Rouzee (GI Northwest) at 31 assists, seven kills, six digs and three blocks.
Finally, junior outside
Ashley Leitner (Lincoln SW) had eight kills and hit .300 with sophomore libero
Liz McGowan (GI Central Catholic) recording a team-best 14 digs.
Elkhorn sophomore right side Brooke Bartosh paced Northwest with nine kills and three blocks.
