Box Score Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska women's basketball team began the second half on an 18-2 run, and got 32 points from junior Jordan Hooper, to beat Nebraska-Kearney, 68-38, in an exhibition game Sunday afternoon in Lincoln.
This was the 12th consecutive season UNL and UNK have met in women's basketball.
Earlier this week, Nebraska beat MIAA-member Pittsburg State, 78-34. The Lopers second exhibition tilt will be Wednesday at UNO.
Ranked 19th in the national preseason Top 25 poll, UNL used only six players with freshman guards Sadie Murren (Wahoo) and Courtney Aiken (Centura H.S.) playing all 40 minutes.
Senior forward Meghin Williams sat out due to injury with five others held out because of a decision by Head Coach Connie Yori.
"We hold our players to a high standard of accountability," Yori said. "We expect our players to live up to those standards. They did not play today, and as long as they live up to the standards that we have set for our team, we do not expect to have any issues moving forward."
Both teams struggled mightily on the offensive end in the first half. At the 11:14 mark, the 'Huskers led 6-5 as they were 2 of 13 from the field and UNK 2 of 15.
Nebraska managed to open up a 26-17 halftime lead with senior guard Lindsey Moore supplying 10 of those points.
Hooper, who finished 10 of 27 from the field, really warmed up in the second half, scoring 26 thanks to seven made shots and an 8 of 11 effort from the line. She also was the only 'Husker to make a three pointer (4 of 6) and grabbed nine rebounds, had three steals and blocked two shots.
Finally, the 6-2 Alliance native scored 11 of her points during the 18-2 run that made it 44-19 with 14:57 to play. During this stretch, UNK had five turnovers and went 1 of 6 from the field.

Shooting 22% (13 of 59) from the field, UNK had four score between six and nine points. True freshman guard
Laramey Lewis (Trenton) came off the bench to tally nine with senior point
Ivy Jones (Vallejo, Calif.) hitting four shots to end with eight.
Jones also had three assists and a steal in 24 minutes.
Besides Hooper, Nebraska saw Moore end with 19 points, six assists, four rebounds and two steals in 35 minutes.
