# 8 Metro Cleans the Glass to Beat Women's Cagers

Box Score Kearney, Neb. – The 8th-ranked Metro State women's basketball team had a plus 26 rebounding margin and shot an even 50 percent from the field to beat Nebraska-Kearney, 79-44, Saturday night in Denver, Colo.

The Roadrunners improve to 21-2 (17-2 RMAC) and beat the Lopers (6-18, 6-13 RMAC) for a fifth straight time.

UNK's last-ever RMAC regular season game in Colorado got off on the wrong note as Metro jumped out to a 21-4 lead. The Lopers eventually worked the deficit down to 10 points but the 'Runners finished the night on a 28-11 spurt.

Among the nation's top rebounding teams, Metro grabbed 48 tonight, including 19 on the offensive end, to tally 20 second chance points. The outsized Lopers, mean while, had a total of 22 boars (seven offensive and 15 offensive).

The 'Runners also went 31 of 61 from the field (5 of 10 threes) and scored 23 points off of 23 Kearney turnovers.

Ten different Metro players scored with only reserve Jenessa Burke (12) reaching double figures. Starting guard Jasmine Cervantes did have nine points, eight rebounds, three assists and a steal in 29 minutes.

For UNK, senior guard Debi Johnson (Elsie) had a team-high 13 points on 5 of  7 free throw shooting and also handed out three of the Lopers nine assists.

Team wise, the Lopers made 33% (16 of 48) of its field goals and also had a rare poor night at the line, going 9 of 18.

UNK hosts Colorado-Colorado Springs and Colorado State-Pueblo next weekend.
