Kearney, Nebraska—UNK Ahtletics thanks those who donated at the Think Pink game on Friday, February 17
th vs. CSU-Pueblo. Thanks to fan contribution, the Lopers will be donating over $300 to the Good Samaritan Cancer Center in Kearney, Nebraska.
With intentions of raising breast cancer awareness, fans were encouraged to wear pink by receiving free admission if they were to do so. Donations were collected at the arena entrance as well as half-time during the game. Before the game, UNK basketball had determined they would like to help those who support them the most and would donate the money within the Kearney Community.
Earlier in the week both Women's and Men's team had the opportunity to visit the Good Samaritan Cancer Center where they toured the facilities. The teams were able to visit where chemotherapy takes place as well as radiation treatment. Understanding what the patients go through on a daily basis made a lasting impression on the teams. UNK Athletics thanks the Cancer Center for providing the opportunity for our athletes.
Both teams were victorious on Friday night, with a tough battle against the Thunderwolves, but the biggest victory was Loper fans pulling together to help raise funds for such an excellent cause.
