Baseball Drops Series Finale to T-Wolves

Box Score Kearney, Neb. – Colorado State-Pueblo senior right hander Sean Gavin threw eight strong innings to lift the ThunderWolves to a 15-4 win over Nebraska-Kearney Sunday afternoon at Memorial Field.

Pueblo (18-12, 15-5 RMAC) won three of the four games with the Lopers (10-18, 9-11 RMAC) this weekend.

Improving to 3-1, Gavin shut out UNK for the first four innings and allowed four earned runs on nine hits and no walks. At the plate, Pueblo recorded 16 hits, including three from nine hole hitter Derek DiCarlo and two from lead off hitter Andrew Castaneda.

Pueblo scored two in the second, three in the third and three more in the sixth to take a commanding 8-1 lead. Also drawing nine walks in the contest, the T-Wolves saw right fielder J.T. Greenhood hit a three-run homer in the seventh with catchers Chris Shindler and Will Beauvais going deep as well.

For the Lopers, lead off hitter Dillon Schroeder (Kearney Catholic H.S.) went 2 for 3 and redshirt freshman second baseman Blake Johnson (Kearney H.S.) went 1 for 4 in his first collegiate start. On the mound, redshirt freshman Wes Berry (White Oak, Texas) threw 1.1 innings of scoreless relief.  

UNK is at league leader Colorado Mesa next weekend. That series will be Thurs.-Sat. due to the Easter Holiday.
