Ellie Pesavento each hit over .400 to help the top-ranked Nebraska-Kearney volleyball team sweep Hastings (-19, -18, -14) Wednesday night at the Health & Sports Center.
UNK improves to 11-0 while the Broncos, ranked 7th in the NAIA, fall to 12-3.
Both teams had their offense working well in the first set, the Lopers having 19 kills and hitting .436 with the Broncos coming in at a .256 clip and 14 kills.
Down 10-8, the Lopers used a 10-5 run that gave them the lead back and forced Hastings to call a time out.
Seven of the points came from kills, including three by junior middle
Katie Sokolowski (Kearney Catholic), two were off Bronco unforced hitting errors and senior libero
Kaleigh Anderson (Lincoln SW) served up an ace.
After this spurt, UNK didn't trail again as they finished the evening with a .310 efficiency (43-8-113). Mean while, Hastings cooled off and hit just .128 (36-21-117).
Krolikowski (Grand Island) had 12 kills in 26 swings to hit .423 with Pesavento (Omaha Marian) having 10 kills in 23 attempts, good for a .435 mark. The other Loper to reach double digits in kills was Sokolowski (10), who also provided a team-best two blocks.
Finally, senior setter
Jenna Rouzee (Grand Island NW) had 35 assists, 11 digs, four kills and a block.
The Broncos were paced by Katie Zoucha and Shayna Schacher, who each recorded 10 kills.
UNK hosts Doane College on September 25th (Tuesday).
