Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney Aqualopers won five events but Division I Nebraska-Omaha swam past UNK,
148-106, Saturday afternoon in the Cushing Pool.
This was the Aqualopers regular season finale.
To start the meet, UNK's “B” team swam a 1:57.25 to win the 200 medley relay. The four some included four true freshmen;
Zhu Zhu Lundin Daniels (Dodge, City, Kans.),
Brianna Monter (Omaha North H.S.),
Skylar Tatreau (Tekamah) and Alex Prochaska (Ralston).
Colorado freshman
Ashleigh Sall then paced the field in the 500 free (11:32.42). Her winning time was 26 seconds better than runner up Anna Haxby of uNO.
Omaha took the next nine events with freshman Hannah Johnson, Jordane Linhart and Natalie Renshaw each winning twice.
UNK placed first in the final three events as Wichita junior
Cassie Bonds swam the 50 free in 1:01.76 and Millard West freshman Mady Besch turned in a 2:25.53 in the 200 individual medley.
Finally, the 200 free relay team, anchored by Bonds, slipped past two UNO teams thanks to a 1:43.92.
Kearney competes in the NSIC Championships Feb. 7-10 in Rochester, Minn.
