Kearney, Neb. - The 2013-14 regular season starts this weekend for the 2nd-ranked Nebraska-Kearney wrestling team and the Nebraska-Kearney Aqualopers.

On Friday night, November 1st, UNK swims against the NAIA College of St. Mary Flames and the Iowa Lakes C.C. Lakers in Omaha. The double dual starts at 6:00 p.m.

Last year, the Aqualopers scored 82 points to beat both CSM and ILCC in Omaha. The '14 UNK squad features 18 swimmers, including seniors Cassie Bonds, Jamie Jenkinson and Jayne McGovern.

On Saturday, the two-time defending national champion Lopers return to Laramie for the 36th Annual Wyoming Cowboy Open, presented by UniWyo Federal Credit Union

The non-team scoring meet starts at 10:00 a.m. (Central) on 10 mats. Champions will be crowned in 10 classes and in two different brackets (Amateur and Elite).

While top-ranked Romero Cotton (197 lbs.) and Daniel DeShazer (133 lbs.) will be busy helping the football team against Central Missouri, UNK will still have the services of Chase White (4th/157 lbs.), Mark Fiala (8th/184 lbs.) and possibly Brock Coutu (2nd/141 lbs.).
