Aqualopers Swim Past Flames & Lakers

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney women's swimming team started the 2013-14 season by defeating both the College of St. Mary, 149-51, and Iowa Lakes C.C. , 106-98, Friday night in Omaha.

The Aqualopers won just three of the 11 events but used its depth to beat the Flames and Lakers.

Sophomore Skylar Tatreau was part of all three first place finishes as she won the 100 free (56.31) and was on the winning 200 free (1:43.72) and 200 medley (1:57.10) relay teams. All three times are new CSM Pool records.

Both of these relay teams were dominant as UNK won the 200 free by three seconds and took the 200 medley race by over two seconds.
Tatreau (Tekamah) swam anchor on the medley squad and was the opening leg for the free team.

Also on both of these squads were senior Cassie Bonds (Wichita, Kans.) and junior Rebecca Tidwell (Emporia, Kans.). In individual events, Bonds was runner up in the 100 fly (1:03.48) with Tidwell third in the 100 backstroke (1:07.56).

Next, Oklahoma junior Shelby Laramore was second in both the 500 (5:46.35) and 1,650 (19:43.46) free with Omaha sophomore Brianna Monter second in the 100 breast (1:14.04) and 200 IM (2:26.38).

Finally, Colorado freshman Kenzie Eubank was second in the 100 backstroke(1:07.55).

UNK is off until a road dual at Morningside College on Friday, November 15th. They then will stay in Sioux City for the Morningsde Open the next day.
