Box Score Kearney, Neb. – The Sioux Falls women's basketball scored 55 second half points to roar back from a halftime deficit and beat Nebraska-Kearney, 88-71, Tuesday night in South Dakota.

The Cougars, from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, improve to 4-0 while UNK drops to 3-3.

Kearney, which defeated USF by a 54-45 score last year, led 42-33 at the break. To get that advantage, UNK closed on a 14-5 run that featured a three pointer from Lexington sophomore Sydney Seberger and four points from Beatrice senior
Shelby Zimmerman.

Sioux Falls quickly grabbed the momentum back, scoring the first 12 points of the second half. The Cougars then built a double digit lead, only to see UNK have a comeback of its own.

The Lopers got within three, 69-66, with 5:35 to play after a bucket by junior post
Amarah Williams (St. Louis, Mo.). However, senior reserve Bailey Bouman hit three treys, in about 90 seconds, to quickly make it a 12-point game.

Six-foot senior post Laura Johnson paced USF with 28 points and 10 rebounds, her second straight double double against the Lopers. She made 6 of 10 field goals and went 15 of 16 at the line. Â
As a team, USF made 31 of 46 freebies (67.4%) as UNK had seven different players with three or more fouls. Â

Next, 6-2 freshman forward Sam Knecht had 16 points and six boards with Bouman ending with those key nine points.Â

For the Lopers, Seberger had a career-best 16 points on 6 of 15 (2 of 7 threes) shooting. Off the bench, and before fouling out, Aussie sophomore
Chantal Thomas had 11 points on three field goals and 5 of 5 free throwing shooting.

UNK shot 35.8% (24 of 67) from the floor and committed eight more turnovers, 22-14, than the Cougars. The Lopers did out rebound USF by eight, 47-39.

Kearney heads to Missouri Southern (Dec. 5th) and Southwest Baptist (Dec. 7th) next weekend.
