Once again, Dave Jenner serves as "Voice of the Lopers" on
KGFW AM 1340.
This will be the 160th all-time meeting between the Lopers and Wildcats in men's basketball. Wayne posted a 78-59 victory at Rice Auditorium last season but both rosters have changed greatly since.
Under first-year head coach Brian Dolan, who was hired on July 18th, Wayne must replace its top three scorers off last year's 17-12 squad.
Senior forward Ryan Rolfzen (6-7, 220 lbs.) is the leading returning scorer (6.9). He led Wayne in threes (51) last year and tallied a team-best 11 points (3 of 8 threes) in a 91-58 exhibition loss at Purdue on November 4th.
South Dakota transfer Jared Bartling, a 6-8, 235 lbs. senior post, and 6-1 senior guard Adol Aluong were the other Wayne players to score in double digits at Mackey Arena.
The other probable starters are 6-1 senior guard Ty Bauschek (Mukwonago, Wisc.) and 6-4 freshman wing Damjan Sredanovic (Montenegro).
Dolan comes to Wayne after being the Upper Iowa head coach for seven seasons. He led the Peacocks into the NCAA Tournament last winter with a 20-12 record.
UNK has 10 new players on a 15-person roster. At Nebraska on November 5th, these newcomers combed to score 33 points and pull down 19 rebounds in a 91-60 setback.
With senior post
Mike Dentlinger (Millard North) sidelined for a few games, junior wing
Tyler Shields (Kearney H.S.) is UNK's leading returning scorer. He had a game-high 18 points on 5 of 11 shooting (4 of 10 3's) at UNL.
Doane transfer
Connor Beranek filled up the stat sheet at the Bank (14 points, six rebounds, two blocks, one assist, one steal) with junior college transfer
Davion Pearson (Las Vegas, Nev.) having six points in three assists in his first game as a Loper.
In the lane, Benkelman senior
Kendal Glidden made all three shots he attempted after shooting 60% from the field last season.
The Lopers hit the road after Sunday, visiting Colorado School of Mines (Nov. 16) and South Dakota School of Mines (Nov. 22).
