Box Score 2 Kearney, Neb. – Fremont sophomore right hander
Michael Hahn threw six strong innings and four different players had multi-RBI efforts to help Nebraska-Kearney beat Lincoln University (Mo.), 11-3, in the first game of a double header Saturday afternoon at Memorial Field.
The Blue Tigers (1-4, 1-1) came back to win the nine inning night cap, 10-6. The Lopers are now 1-3 on the young season.
Ahead 2-1, Kearney busted open game one thanks to a six-run fourth. The set featured just three hits as Lincoln walked four Lopers and hit another.
UNK tacked on three more the next inning as sophomore center fielder
Brandon Landanger (Kearney H.S.) had an RBI triple and sophomore third baseman
Danny Droll (Penrose, Colo.) and senior right fielder
Brian Wuest (Prosper, Texas) followed with back-to-back doubles.
Hahn (1-1) allowed three earned on eight hits and three walks. He shut out Lincoln from the second through fourth innings. At the plate, Wuest went 3 for 4 with senior first baseman
Eric Ringblom (Millard North) having a team-best three RBI's.
Lincoln came back and scored two runs in five different innings in game two. Number nine hitter Colby Shepherd went 3 for 4 with three RBI's while Ben Stewart and Clint Cashen, the Blue Tigers three and four hitters, combined to go 4 for 9 with two RBI's.
Junior right hander Scott Jones earned the win as he allowed five earned on nine hits and three walks in eight full innings.
UNK, committing five errors, saw sophomore short stop
Dillon Schroeder (Kearney H.S) lead off the eighth with homer to finish 2 for 4 with junior second baseman
Scott Jameson (Lovell, Wyo.) and senior catcher
Chandler Klute (Kearney H.S.) having two hits as well.
Finally, Grand Island sophomore
Chayse Gulzow gave up just one earned run in four innings of relief.
The series concludes tomorrow with a nine inning game starting at noon.
