Box Score Kearney, Neb. – The Washburn Ichabods had a plus 16 rebounding margin and got two double doubles to beat Nebraska-Kearney, 72-51, Thursday night in Topeka, Kans.
The 'Bods, who have been nationally-ranked most of the year, improve to 17-6 (10-5) while the Lopers fall to 6-17 (3-12).
Leading from start to finish, Washburn dominated inside against smaller Loper squad, scoring 44 of its points in the paint.
The son of longtime WU head coach Bob Chipman, 6-8 senior post Bobby Chipman tallied 13 points and pulled down 11 boards (eight defensive).
MIAA Player of the Year candidate Will McNeill, a 6-1 senior guard, was one of four others to reach double digits. He scored 12 and handed out 10 assists while also having five steals in 31 minutes of work.
Having just nine turnovers, Washburn grabbed 45 rebounds (14 offensive) and held UNK to 37.5 % (21 of 56) shooting.
