Box Score 2 Kearney, Neb. – The Central Oklahoma Bronchos recorded 23 hits and drew 15 walks to sweep a double header from Nebraska-Kearney, 15-5 and 11-4 (7 innings), Saturday afternoon in Edmond, Okla.
In game one, UCO (21-16, 17-15) scored four in the third to erase a 1-0 deficit and then erupted for four more in the fourth and seven in the sixth.
The top three Bronchos in the order were a combined 7 for 14 with six runs and five RBI's. That included lead off hitter and left fielder Tyler Crabtree belting two doubles and a solo homer.
UNK (19-17, 16-14), which walked seven times in the game, saw junior third baseman
Mike Kattula (Sterling Heights, Mich.) continue his recent hot stretch as he belted two homers to finish 2 for 4 with two runs and three RBI's.
The late contest saw UCO jump out to a 5-0 lead after two innings as senior catcher Eric Garza belted a two-run shot in the first and junior right fielder Wacey Henderson providing a run scoring single.
The Bronchos top three hitters – Crabtree, junior third baseman Matt Johnson, Henderson and sub Robbie Hoffman --- were tough outs again, going a combined 6 for 10 with six runs and six RBI's.
On the mound, senior right hander Edgar Lopez (5-3) went the distance, giving up three earned on seven hits and two walks.
UNK saw sophomore catcher
Max Ayoub (Grand Island) hit a two-run shot in the seventh and junior shortstop
Scott Jameson (Lovell, Wyo.) go 2 for 2 with a run scored.
The two teams play a single nine inning game Sunday at noon.
