The Lions (21-21, 8-12) bounced back to take the second game, 11-1 in six innings.

UNK (8-22, 3-11) used three bloop singles to score the day's first run in the bottom of the first. However, Southern's Sarah Williams (5-6) got out of a bases loaded jam thanks to a strike out.

In the Loper second, sophomore center fielder Kenzie Helmink (Fairbury) reached on an error, stole second and then moved to third on a passed ball. UNK lead off hitter Mackenzie Tomlin (Grand Island) brought Helmink home with a single to right center.

After the Lions scored a run in the top of the fourth, freshman first baseman Katie Ruwe (Blair) blasted her fourth homer of the year over the left field fence to cap the scoring.

Earning her second win of the season, Trosper (Grand Island) struck out two and didn't walk a batter. At the plate, freshman designated player Erin Dwyer (Elmwood) went 2 for 3 from the five hole.

Southern controlled the night cap as Haley Pypes (7-7) tossed a complete game three-hitter. Working around five walks, she fanned four and only allowed a run in the third inning.
