Lopers Dominate SW Baptist

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Kearney, Neb – The Nebraska-Kearney softball team scored 21 runs to sweep a double header from Southwest Baptist Friday, 12-0 (5 innings) and 9-1 (6 innings), in Bolivar, Mo.

With the wins, the Lopers (10-24, 5-13) send the Bearcats (4-40, 0-20) to its 34th straight loss.

In game one, UNK scored six in the first and added five more in the fourth. Taking advantage of 10 walks and two errors, Kearney had seven hits with freshman first baseman Katie Ruwe (Blair) going 2 for 2 with a run scored and two RBI's.

Grand Island sophomore Taryn Trosper (3-5) fanned three and gave up five hits in tossing a complete game shutout.

UNK took control of the night cap when they scored five times in the fourth to make it a 7-1 score. All the runs were unearned as SBU committed three errors.

Lincoln sophomore Mallory Noakes went 2 for 4 and Colorado redshirt freshman Makenzie Ault went 2 for 2. Iowa junior Brittnie Kreiser (3-5) struck out three and gave up just four hits in going the distance.

The Lopers are at Central Missouri on Saturday and visit Truman State Sunday.
