Box Score 4 Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney softball team capped a busy weekend by dropping double headers at Central Missouri , 9-4 and 9-2, and Truman State, 6-0 and 4-3, this weekend.
The Lopers, who swept Southwest Baptist on Friday, are now 10-28 (5-17).
The Truman (25-15, 13-11) games were originally started on March 30th but suspended in the top of the fourth inning in game one due to bad weather. TSU scored two runs in each of the first three innings before the rains came.
Finishing with just three hits, UNK had the bases loaded in the sixth but Hannah Washburn got back-to-back strikeouts to end the threat. Improving to 15-6, she fanned 10 and walked just three.
In the night cap, the Bulldogs again struck early, grabbing a 4-0 lead after three full. The Lopers tallied one in the fourth and then had the bases full with one down in the fifth.
However, only one Loper crossed home plate as a fly out and strikeout were sandwiched around an RBI single by sophomore shortstop

UNK again was held to only three hits with Truman registering 11 but stranding eight. Iowa junior
Brittnie Kreiser threw four innings of scoreless relief with Kindra Henze evening her record to 7-7 by striking out 10 and walking none.
The Jennies (22-18, 12-10) also jumped on the Lopers, getting out to a 7-0 lead after two innings in game one and leading the second contest 4-2 after three innings.
UCM took advantage of five Kearney errors to score seven unearned in the day's final game. UNK got a sac fly by freshman Kaitlin Henke (Fairbury) and a solo homer junior third baseman
Sarah Rome (Blair) to score its two runs but were shut out over the final five.
Jessica Wilkes (5-2) struck out six in throwing a complete game four-hitter.
Finally, the Jennies saw left fielder Alex Groeger (2 for 3) hit a two-run shot in the first and then second baseman Braylyn Bivens (3 for 4, two runs & five RBI's) belted a three-run shot in the second.
Hehnke provided all of the Loper runs with a pinch hit “Grand Slam” in the sixth. Noakes did go 2 for 3 with Bennington junior
Bailey Backhuus allowing four earned in five full.
UNK hosts nationally-ranked Fort Hays State this week and then Lincoln comes to town on Saturday to finish the season.
